Barbara E. Carodiskey, 94, formerly of 625 E. Market St., Danville, and since May 27, 
2014, a guest of Emmanuel Nursing Center, was reunited with her husband and 
dancing partner, Harold, on April 15, 2015. 

She was born Dec. 27, 1920, a daughter of the late Theodore and Grace (Houck) 
Doan.

Barbara graduated from Berwick High School in 1938 and Geisinger School of Nursing 
in 1942. Although she was employed for five years in the Medical Outpatient 
Department of Geisinger, she was best known as “Doc. Gordner’s Nurse” for 20 years 
until her retirement in 1985.

Barbara’s interests included playing bridge, working crossword puzzles, reading, 
playing Scrabble Slam and especially dancing with Harold. She enjoyed being a 
member of St. Paul’s Emmanuel United Methodist Church and Geisinger Nurses 
Alumnae Association.

Barbara is survived by two daughters: Janis Williams of Danville; and Lynne 
Carodiskey of Pittsburgh; as well as her pride and joy grandson, Chad, and his wife, 
Dee Williams, of Silver Spring, Md.; a sister, Nancy Linville of Harrisburg; a special 
friend, Linda Kurtz of Pittsburgh; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 
years, Harold M. “Reds” Carodiskey, who preceded her in death on Christmas Eve 
2012; two brothers: Joseph Doan and Theodore Doan Jr.; as well as two sisters: 
Phyllis Johnson and Alice Ann Monteith; and three infant siblings.

Private funeral services will be held at the Brady Funeral Home in Danville for the 
immediate family with her pastor, the Rev. Greg Molter, officiating. The burial will 
follow in the Episcopal Cemetery in Danville
