LLEWELLYN E. MAULE

Llewellyn Ellsworth Maule, son of Chase County pioneers, Charles I. and Martha 
Maule, was born in Strong City, May 20, 1880 and died in the Wichita Hospital, July 
20, 1927, aged 47 years and two months to the day. He goes to join his father, mother 
and two brothers who have preceded him to their eternal rest.

Lew spent his boyhood in Strong City and was associated with his father and brothers 
in the general merchandise business before and after he served with Company E 
twenty-second Kansas volunteers in the Spanish-American War.

He was to Cora C. Howard, January 8. 1901 in Cottonwood Falls after which he spent 
several years in the mercantile business and as a travelling salesman until forced to 
give up on account of failing health.

Mr. Maule is survived by his wife, Cora C. Maule; one sister, Mr. G. B. Howard of 
Cottonwood Falls; and four brothers, George S. Maule and Alex G. Maule of Wichita; 
Joe V. Maule of San Diago, Calif., and Robert M. Maule of Los Angeles, Calif.

OBITUARY OF LLEWELLYN ELLSWORTH MAULE

Sun of Chase county pioneer Chas, I. and Martha A. Maule, was born in Strong City, 
Kansas, May 20, 1880, Died in the Wichita Hospital, July 20, 1927, aged 47 years and 
2 months' He goes to join his father, mother,and two brothers, Who preceded hint to 
their eternal home.

Lew spent his boyhood in Strong City, and was associated with hip father and brother 
in the general merchandise business, before, and after he served with Co. E. 22nd 
Kansas Volunteers, in the Spanish-American War.

On January 8, 1901, he was united in marriage with Cora C. Howard inCottonwood 
Falls; afterwards spend-Mg several years in the mercantile business, and as a 
traveling sales-man, until forced to give up on account of failing health.

Mr. Maule is survived by his wife, Cora C. Maule of Cottonwood Falls; one sister, Mrs. 
Mattie Howard, of Cottonwood Falls; and four brothers, Geo. S. Maule and Alex. G. of 
Wichita, Kansas, Joe V. of San Diege, Calif., and Robert M. of Los Angeles, 
California.

The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. E. M. Scott of the Presbyterian 
Church of Cottonwood Falls at the residence of G. B. Howard, Thursday, July 21st, at 
1:30 p. m.

Lew Maule was a man of a world of energy and a good salesman. Hewas of a cheerful 
disposition and al-ways an optimist. lie made friends easily and he knew people all 
over, the state, wherever his business as commercial traveler called him.

Lew was of liberal disposition and was always ready to help afriend. During the last 
few months his strength rapidly failed him buthe was always cheerful and hopeful. The 
sympathy of his many friends go out to his wife who cared for him sofaithfully and 
constantly, to his sister and his brothers who are left to mourn him.

Lew Maule Passes Funeral Services Will Be at G. B. Haward Home at 1:30 o'Clock 
Friday Afternoon.

L. E. "Lew" Maule of Wichita, a former well known resident of Strong City and 
Cottonwood Falls, died Wednesday morning at 1:15 o'clock in the Wichita Hospital 
from heart trouble. The remains will be brought here and interment will be in the Prairie 
Grove cemetery after the services Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the G. B. 
Howard home. The Rev. E. X. Scott will be in charge of the services.

Elewellyn Ellsworth Maule was born May 20, 3880, in Strong City where he spent his 
boyhood. He was married to Miss Cora C. Howard at Cottonwood Falls on January 8, 
1901. They lived in Cottonwood Falls for some time and then moved to Wichita. Mr. 
Maule has been a travelling salesman for a number of years.

He is survived by his widow; one sister, Mrs. G. B. Howard of Cottonwood Falls; and 
four brothers, George S. Maule and Alex G. Maule `of Wichita, Joe V. Maule of San 
Diego, Calif., and Robert M. Maule of Los Angeles, Calif.

He was a member of the Elks lodge and was a veteran of the Spanish-American War.
