Howard Wayne Phelps 
JACKSONVILLE - Howard Wayne Phelps, 77, of Jacksonville, formerly of Mattoon, 
died at 2 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 18, 2007)at Passavant Area Hospital. 

 A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Zion Hill Cemetery, rural Mattoon. 
The Rev Jim Dona will officiate. There will be no visitation. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral 
Home is handling arrangements. 

 Mr. Phelps was born March 3, 1930, in Mattoon, the son of Leonard and Stella Mae 
(Cox) Phelps. 

 He is survived by a brother, L. Paul Phelps of Mattoon; and a sister, Norma Jean 
Bridges of Stewardson. 

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
