A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997, in Portland Memorial Funeral 
Home for Rose Howard, who died Dec. 10 of pneumonia at age 79. 

 Mrs. Howard was born April 30, 1918, in Willmar, Minn. Her maiden name was 
Bednorz. She graduated from high school and business college in Sioux City, Iowa. In 
1941, she moved to Portland. In 1951, she married Hugh; he died in 1981. She was a 
bookkeeper for Joe Fisher Auto Dealership and a tax technician for Deloitte-Touche, 
retiring in 1985. She and her husband owned Howard Insurance Agency. She recently 
moved to Grangeville, Idaho. 

 Survivors include her brother, Joseph Bednorz of Grangeville; sister, Gertrude Colby 
of Tacoma; stepdaughter, Donna Beck of Portland; four grandchildren; and 11 great-
grandchildren. 

 Private interment will be in Portland Memorial Mausoleum.
