Jay Alvin Higbee, a retired real estate broker, died in a private hospital. He was 83.

Mr. Higbee was born in Bellevue, O., and was a graduate of Kenyon Academy and 
Kenyon College. He operated his own realty firm for 50 years, retiring just eight years 
ago.

He was a member of Collinwood Christian Church.

In 1917, Mr. Higbee married Katharine Scott, then society editor of The Plain Dealer. 
She survives him with two daughters, Mrs. Robert Schutt of Swartz Creek, Mich., and 
Mrs. Paul Miljenovic; 10 grandchildren and a brother. The family home is at 13805 
Lake Shore Drive, Bratenahl.

Services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the Edwards funeral home, 13145 Euclid 
Avenue, East Cleveland.
