The Funeral Of Carlton M. "Remy" Remsburg, 81, of 7B Striegel Court, Normal, will be 
at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Thawville Congregational Church, Thawville, with the Rev. 
Thomas M. Jones officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Piper City. Visitation 
will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, and a half 
hour before the service Saturday at the church. 

 He died at 8:04 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 5, 1997) at his home. Memorials may be made 
to Thawville Congregational Church or a charity of the donor's choice. 

 Mr. Remsburg was born Oct. 20, 1916, at Thawville, a son of Harold and Alice Wilcox 
Remsburg. He married Genevieve Mary Ellen Doran Oct. 19, 1940, at Piper City. She 
survives. 

 Other survivors include one daughter, Sue Bassett, Laurel, Md. 

 One daughter, Ellen Jane Peck, preceded him in death. 

 Mr. Remsburg owned and operated Remsburg Electric and Remsburg Funeral Home in 
Piper City and with his father owned Remsburg Funeral Home, Thawville. His was a 
graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science, Chicago. He worked at DuPont 
Co. in Joliet from 1939 through World War II. In 1957, he became associated with 
Illinois State University as an electrician. 

 He was a member of the Thawville Congregational Church; the International 
Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; the ISU Annuitants; a 50-year member of Illinois 
Funeral Directors Association; and was a charter member of the Twin City Good Sams 
RV Club. 

 Besides his family, his interest were traveling, boating, RVing and photography. He 
accomplished his longtime desire to visit Inuvick in the Canadian Northwest Territory 
beyond the Arctic Circle in 1986. He and Mrs. Remsburg and a bush pilot flew over 
the Arctic Ocean. He was a friend to people, animals and birds. He took care of many 
small animals over a 30 year period. He was always there to assist anyone who 
needed him and always had a joke and a helping hand.
