Services for Irene Hazlewood will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, Dec. 30, at Taylor 
Street Church of Christ. Eli Borden will officiate.
Burial will follow in Memory Gardens under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home. 
Visitation will be held from 8 am to 8 pm today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hazlewood, 80, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, in Hobbs. She was born March 23, 
1920, in Shamrock, Okla.
She married E. L. Hazlewood on March 18, 1946, in Colorado City, Texas.
She was a member of Taylor Street Church of Christ. She had lived in Hobbs since 
1946.
She had worked as a cook at Furr's Cafeteria for eight years.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Jay Thomason of Hobbs and 
Jim Thomason of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Edna Buffington and Shirley Welty, 
both of Hobbs; two brothers, Jay Nichols of Casper, Wyo., and Tom Nichols of 
Eastland, Texas; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Her parents; five sisters; one brother; a son, Bill Thomason and a grandson, Mike 
Buffington, preceded her in death.
