Bill Thomason, 37 year-old service station operator injured June 10, 1974, in a freak 
accident at his job, died at 8 am Tuesday, August 13, 1974, at Hendrick Memorial 
Hospital. 
Bill of 1449 Yorktown, sustained severe head injuries when a tire he was working on 
exploded, the rim hitting him in the head. The accident occurred at S. 1st Mobil 
Station 3349 S. 1st. He was the owner and operator.
He was born March 10, 1937, in Bangs and raised in Hobbs, N.M. He married Ida 
Poston April 5, 1958 in Hobbs. They moved to California in 1969 and to Abilene, 
Texas, in 1971.
He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife; Three sons, Billy 15, Tommy 13, and Doyle 6; two brothers, 
Jay of Hobbs N.M. and Jimmy of Laurel, Miss.; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Buffington and 
Mrs. Shirley Keith of Hobbs N.M. and his step father and mother, Mr & Mrs. E. L. 
Hazelwood of Hobbs, N.M.
