Deceased Name: THOMAS M. LADD JR.
Thomas M. Ladd Jr. of the 2700 block of St. Mihiel Ave. died July 2, 1997. 

A native of Richmond, he was a retired employee of The Virginian-Pilot and The 
Ledger-Star, and a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church. 

Survivors include his wife, Thelma H. Ladd; a daughter, Barbara Ladd Martin of 
Virginia Beach; a granddaughter, April L. Mingo of Newport News; a nephew, Winston 
H. Willey of Norfolk; and a niece, Paulette Hardin of Norfolk. 

He was predeceased by a sister, Lucy Ladd Willey. 

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by 
the Rev. Bob DeWitt. The family will receive friends in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 
Tidewater Drive Chapel, from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Edition: FINAL

(98) Thomas Mifflin Ladd, IV, of Norfolk, Virginia, son of Thomas Mifflin,
III and Margaret Gertrude Munford, married Thelma Inez, daughter of J. C. and
Adele Ransone Hardin. The Ransone family of Matthews Co. was prominent there
in Colonial Days. Thomas was born in Richmond, Virginia, moved to Norfolk
with his family in 1920 where he attended public schools, graduating from
Maury High School in 1930; after Which he began newspaper work - composing
room. At present is connected with The Norfolk Newspaper, Inc.
