HAMPDEN - John Hale Fisher, 82, of Hampden, passed away Monday, May 4, at 
Baystate Medical Center. Born in La Grange, IL, a son of the late Francis F. and 
Mildred (Allen) Fisher, he was a longtime resident of Longmeadow and Hampden. John 
was the beloved husband of the late Shirley J. (Henning) Fisher who passed away in 
2002. He was a graduate of the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and served 
his country as a Technician Fifth Grade in the U.S. Army, during WW II. He was owner 
of Grand Prix America (now known as Grand Prix International). Until his retirement in 
1998 and prior to founding Grand Prix, he was a buyer at Montgomery Ward in 
Chicago from 1959 to 1972 and at Milton Bradley where he was Assistant to the Vice 
President of Operations from 1972 to 1978. John is survived by his four children, 
Cynthia Coyle of East Longmeadow, Patricia Pawlowicz of Hampden, Michael Fisher of 
Wilbraham, and Julia Fisher of Fayetteville, TN; seven grandchildren, Michael and 
Peter Coyle, EmilyRose Pawlowicz, Samuel, Nathan, Carly, and Jacob Fisher. He was 
also predeceased by his grandson, David Propst. Family and friends will meet on 
Friday, May 8, at 10 a.m. for John's funeral service at Christ the King Lutheran 
Church, 758 Main St., Wilbraham. The service will be followed by burial in 
Longmeadow Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Byron 
Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen St., Springfield.
