Jennie Ruth Arnett Nutt, 91, of Lubbock died Sunday, June 12, 2005.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 16, at the First Baptist Church Ford Chapel. 
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Franklin-
Bartley Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ruth was born Oct. 9, 1913 in Loop. She married Kirby E. Nutt, Jr. Feb. 13, 1932. 
They moved to Lubbock in 1944. Ruth was employed at the Lubbock Avalanche-
Journal for over 23 years, retiring in 1978 as Classified Office Manager. Ruth was an 
active member of the First Baptist Church, where she was a member of Good News 
Sunday School Class for over 25 years and the Prime Time Choir. She was also a 
member of the Texas Heritage Chapter ABWA, Past Matron of Lubbock Chapter O.E.S. 
No. 76, Past Matrons Club, president of Past Matrons and Past Patrons Club.

Thanks and appreciation to Bethany House, Grace and Dale Abesamis and family for 
all their love and support, VistaCare, Dr. E. Cobos, Dr. Leigh Ann Jenkins and Dr. 
Henrique Aguas and their staffs. Thanks for the love and support to all her dear 
friends in Eastern Star, Past Matrons, ABWA, Good News SS Class and dear friend 
Joann Mead.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kirby E. Nutt, Jr., in 1981; and her son, 
Kirby E. Nutt III, in 1988. She is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Wilkins of 
Albuquerque, N.M., and Judy Posey and husband Eric of Lubbock; grandchildren, 
Kirby E. Nutt IV, Ricky Nutt, Steven Wilkins and wife Dana, Lisa Kirk and husband 
Ron, Diane Yates and husband Nick, Cheryl Peterson, and Mike Lee Posey and wife 
Lori; step-granddaughter, Jennifer Smyer; and great-grandchildren, Naomi and Nathan 
Wilkins, Reagan and ailey Posey, Ash-Lee Peterson, and Cody and Ryan Kirk.

The family will receive condolences at 3610 28th St. In lieu of flowers, the family 
requests contributions to Southwest Cancer Center, Meals on Wheels or a charity of 
your choice.
