General Notes:
A family story indicates that Pearl left Bill about 1917. He married Ruby Grace George 
in a well documented wedding in Victoria, Texas. He had not had a divorce from 
Pearl. Ruby Grace's father found out about this and had Bill arrested. He went to 
Huntsville Prison in Texas after being found guilty of bigamy during a trial dated 
12/4/1917. He was in prison for 3 years. A letter written by Bill to his mother exists in 
the documents.
Property Tax rolls show Bill and his father Samuel were partners in the  ownership of a 
ranch in Mina, Mendocino Co., CA. Sam purchased cows and pigs and put in 
vegetable gardens. Bill Browne and various family members and friends lived there off 
and on during the middle to late '20s. The ranch was taken by the county for non 
payment of property taxes. Vivian, age 16, Bill and Pearl's daughter, was brought to 
the ranch to have a baby, Van Norman. Bill and Mabel Lamberth were married during 
this time and listed themselves as the parents on the birth certificate and raised Van 
until 1934 when Vivian married Roy Riley.
