WATERTOWN — Martha Hale, 93, of Watertown, died after a short illness Tuesday, 
April 3, 2012, surrounded by family. She was the widow of Nathan E. Hale.

Martha was born Feb. 4, 1919, in Westport, Conn., daughter of the late Lewis and 
Mildred (Neave) Mills. She grew up in Westport, Conn., at Sherwood Island State Park 
where her father was a ranger and was a graduate of Staples High School. She 
married Nathan Hale in June 1941 at her beloved Sherwood Island. Her love of the 
ocean and Sherwood Island was always in her heart and she treasured the memories 
she had of living there. She lived in Westport before moving to Watertown, Conn. in 
1951. Martha had worked at Black Rock State Park and Tech Systems in Thomaston 
before her retirement in 1984. Martha was constantly surrounded by her large family 
and took great joy in watching the families grow.

Martha leaves a son, Nathan (Cy) Hale of Thomaston, Conn.; a daughter, Sara 
Frysinger and her husband, Edward, of Watertown, Conn.; grandchildren, Beverly and 
Jay Famigletti of Thomaston, Nathan and Carol Hale of Redding, Amanda and Larry 
Zolla of Torrington; Stacy and Michael Deming of Bristol, Marcy and Kevin Clewes of 
West Hartford, Laury and Allen Currier of West Hartford, and Jenny and Frank Koshes 
of Orange. She also leaves behind her much beloved cousin, Marjorie Goepfert of 
Goshen; 17 loving great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Martha 
was preceded in death by her loving husband, Nathan E., her brothers, Lew and Larry, 
and her parents.

Arrangements will be made at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Chapter of the Alzheimer's 
Association or the Lions Low Vision Center Inc. of New Britain, Conn.
