Grover C. Mills, longtime Westport and Weston resident and well known contractor 
and craftsman, died Sept. 30, 2013, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He 
was 72.

Mr. Mills and his sister Gail were born March 23, 1941, at Norwalk Hospital. They were 
the twin children of Larry and Elizabeth Mills of Westport.

After attending Staples High School, he graduated from the University of Bridgeport, 
married Carol (Kerrie) Eannello and headed to Chile to serve in the Peace Corps. 
Returning to Westport and after a brief interval teaching, Mr. Mills began his building 
career.

He was an avid sailor, mountain climber and runner. A music lover, he played guitar, 
piano and saxaphone.

His family said lending a helping hand came easily to this former Eagle Scout and the 
skate board installation at Compo Beach is one of the many community projects that 
benefitted from his talent.

Mr. Mills is predeceased by his parents and his twin sister Gail Detrick. He is survived 
by his wife Eileen Grace of Weston, his son Geoffery Mills and his neice and nephew 
Heather and Robert Detrick.

A celebration of Mr. Mills’ life will take place at the Nature Center Building on the east 
end of Sherwood Island State Park on Friday, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m.
