Helen Patterson was “a charming child and gifted girl” with an “unusual gift for music.”
“Of very few is it ever so manifest as with her that her cup of bliss was filled. To those
who knew her best she often seemed the embodiment of joy. Yet her character was
lacking in no elements, either of sensitiveness or firmness. Her steadfast purposes
were always for the right, and her judgments of people were keen and discriminating.”
–From the Illinois Wesleyan Argus, June 1, 1914 p.5
