MATTOON - Brenda Kay Banks, 68, of Mattoon, passed from this life at 5:01 p.m. on 
Monday, March 23, 2009, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. 

 Funeral services in tribute to her life will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, 
at the Schilling Funeral Home, 1301 Charleston Avenue in Mattoon with Pastor Dave 
Dolan officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston. Visitation for 
family and friends will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. this (Wednesday) evening at the 
funeral home. 

 Brenda was born September 19, 1940, in Charleston, a daughter of Donald Eugene 
and Jennie June (Hardin) Freeman. Brenda was raised by her mother and stepfather, 
Albert "Brownie" Brown. She married Donovan L. Banks on May 8, 1960. 

 Survivors include husband, Donovan L. Banks of Mattoon; five sons, Stephen W. 
Banks of Peoria, Arizona, David L. Banks and wife Brenda Kaye of Imperial, Missouri, 
Jeffrey I. Banks, Michael A. Banks, and Timothy J. Banks and wife Christine, all of 
Mattoon; daughter-in-law, Kim Spink of Vienna; nine grandchildren, Rachel Banks and 
Austin Banks, both of Peoria, Arizona, Justin Banks and Megan Banks, both of 
Imperial, Missouri, Brittany Banks and Jennifer Banks, both of Virginia Beach, Virginia, 
Drew Banks of Mattoon, and Emily Ketelsen and Adam Ketelsen, both of Vienna; one 
sister, Judith Ann Plummer and husband Gerald of Missouri; and two stepsisters, 
Nancy Lipinski of Arizona and Donna Gonzales and husband Richard of Florida. 

 She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather. 

 Mrs. Banks was a member of New Life Tabernacle where because of her love of 
children and older people, she taught Sunday School for many years. 

 Memorial gifts in her honor may be made to New Life Tabernacle.
