 JOHN P. "SNAP" GERARD, 39, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, in Angola. Born in 
Gary, he was a foreman and crane operator for Weigand Construction and member of 
Local 213. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling and loved coaching his kids 
football and baseball teams. Survivors include wife, Erika Gerard of Fort Wayne; 
children, Nicholas Gerard, Jakob Gerard, Ashley Gerard and Austin Wissman, all of 
Fort Wayne; parents Phil and Cathie Gerard of Angola; brother, Jeff (Jessi) Gerard of 
Angola; niece and nephew, Zoe and Max; and best-friend, Bill (Staci) Sowders of Fort 
Wayne. Service is 11 a.m. Friday at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral 
Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Mark Klinepeter 
officiating. Calling also from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials to his 
children's Education Fund c/o Erika Gerard.
