Funeral Services will be conducted for Colonel Leonard James "Sug" Barrow, Jr. 
(U.S.A.F. Retired), at 11:00AM Saturday November 18, 2006 at St. Peters Catholic 
Church with Father Charles Langlois and Deacon James R. Barrow officiating. There 
will be no visitation prior to the service. Interment will be in Beau Pre Cemetery. 
Military Graveside rites will be conducted by United States Air Force Honor Guard out 
of Keesler AFB, Mississippi. 
Col. Barrow died Sunday November 12, 2006 at 8:48PM at Iberia Medical Center. 

After attending U.S.L., Colonel Barrow started as an Aviation Cadet commissioned in 
1939 at Randolph AFB, Texas. He met and married his wife Helen in 1939 at 
Barksdale AFB, Shreveport. He commanded aviation units in the European Theatre 
during WWII. He was Senior Air Force advisor to the Chinese Nationalist Air Force 
following WWII. For this service, President Chaing Kai-Chek awarded him the Order of 
the Golden Dragon of China. Col. Barrow commanded and served in a variety of senior 
positions and served during the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War before retiring in 
1970. He was given 3 Legion of Merit awards, The Distinguished Flying Cross, The Air 
Medal and The Soldiers Medal for lifesaving of airmen in an aircraft crash during the 
War; he was King of Krewe of Iberians Mardi Gras Court, he was a member of the City 
of New Iberia Cleanest City Committee, he was passionate about local history and was 
a guide for The Shadows. 

Survivors include his wife Helen Williams Barrow of New Iberia; one son, Colonel 
James R. Barrow (Roman Catholic Deacon) and wife Jeannette Carr Barrow of Walla 
Walla, Washington; one daughter, Debbie Barrow Hartman and husband Maurice 
"Mac" Hartman of Auburn, Alabama; one sister Elizabeth "Betsy" Bourgeois of 
Jeanerette; three grandsons; Daniel Barrow Hartman of Auburn, Alabama, Jeffrey 
Ruffin Barrow of Cincinnati, Ohio and Dr. James Markam Barrow of Pasco, Washington 
and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 
Leonard James Barrow, Sr. and Lillian Voorhies Barrow and two sisters Louise Barrow 
and Lorraine Barrow Gesser Bernard. 

Pallbearers will be Wallace "Billy" Gesser, Jeffrey R. Barrow, Daniel Hartman, Russell 
Bourgeois, Dr. James Markam Barrow and John Bourgeois. Honorary pallbearers will 
be Dr. Leonard Barrow Bourgeois, Langdon Bourgeois, William Billy Scudder, Steven 
Scudder and Nick Hartman. 
In lieu of flowers donations are preferred to the American Cancer Society. 
David Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
