GEIGER, Janette (Jean) Ratcliffe Vogel, Of Centerville, Ohio, age 85, died peacefully 
on Friday, July 4, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in 
death by a brother, Fred Ratcliffe and first husband, Howard Vogel. 

She is survived by husband, William F. Geiger; sister-in-law Marcella Ratcliffe; nieces 
Susan Sulski and family; Kimberly Glasgow and family; step-daughters Nikki (Collins) 
Griffith; Maria (Larry) Suttman; Heidi Geiger; Kate (Eric) Kohler; step grand-daughters 
Jennifer (Travis) Andersen; Brooke Kohler and special family member Cindy "Poodle" 
Geiger. 

Jean graduated from Dayton Co-operative High School, class of 1941. After 
graduation , she was employed at Ohio Bell Telephone Co & Harris Seybold Potter Co. 
She was in the Womens Army Corps for 2 years. She attended The Ohio State 
University and graduated from Miami-Jacobs Business College. She was employed at 
Kettering Board of Education as Secretary to the Superintendent and as Secretary to 
the Director of Personnel & Community Relations. She also worked for The Ohio State 
University at Wright Patterson AFB, and for the Ohio Department of Mental Health at 
Dayton Mental Health Center where she was Secretary to the Clinical Director. After 
retirement, she continued to work part-time. She was a passionate activist for humane 
treatment to animals and was a member of area animal welfare and environmental 
organizations. The family wishes to thank the multitude of loving caregivers including 
Brooke Kohler and all of the Hospice aides and nurses. Most especially the family is 
particularly grateful for the outstanding loving care and attention provided by long 
term caregiver to Jean; Karen Heydinger. 

Mass of Christian Burial 10 am Wednesday July 9, 2008 at the Church of the 
Incarnation Far Hills Ave, Centerville, OH; Burial will be at a later date next to first 
husband Howard Vogel at Twin Valley Cemetery in Preble County
