 January 8, 1958 ~ May 28, 2013"Knock'n On Heaven's Door" Bill idolized Bob Dylan 
and as the song goes "Knock'n On Heaven's Door," so it was on May 28th, when Bill 
left this life and those he loved behind. An avid outdoorsman, Bill was happiest when 
riding his bike around Liberty Park, tending to his vegetable garden, going on the 
Jeep trails in Moab, and of course, frequenting all of the hunting and fishing spots that 
Utah has to offer. Every year he looked forward to celebrating the 24th of July; the 
childhood home providing front row seats to the magnificent Liberty Park firework 
display. Although somewhat quiet in nature, Bill was gifted with a quick wit, a 
wonderful sense of humor, and a soft chuckle that would bring a smile to anyone's 
face. He was a man that thought outside of the box and if you spent five minutes 
around him you would quickly learn of his love of other free thinkers such as, Bob 
Dylan, Jim Morrison, and John Lennon. Bill was a giant of a man with a golden heart 
and would do anything he could to help a loved one in need no matter the 
circumstance. He had an incredible sense of loyalty and reliability and was able to 
relate to persons of all walks of life, thus making many lifelong friends through the 
boating and auto industries. He is preceded in death by his parents, McKay and 
Mildred G. Holmes Davis. He is survived by his daughter Lauren, brothers McKay and 
Mark, sister Mary, (Luis Rodriguez), former spouse Melissa Thompson, his nieces, 
nephews, and his loving partner "Queen Jane." Our lives will never be the same 
without him here to ask, "How are you?" or "Let's get together and have lunch!" Most 
of all, it was the things he didn't say; it was the way he made you feel. Until later, Bill, 
walk through "Heaven's Door" and know that we will all love and miss you. A memorial 
is being held in his honor at Liberty Park on Sunday, June 23rd from 11:00-2:00 p.m. 
at Rice Pavilion-North east corner of Liberty Park.
