Mary Evelyn Bryson, devoted wife and mother, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at a 
Twin Falls care center at age 96.

She was born in Wallace, Idaho, one of three daughters of Allen D. and Eva Smith. 
Mary attended public schools, including at Rose Lake and the Fourth of July Canyon 
districts in northern Idaho. Her first job after leaving school was as a server in a north 
Idaho logging camp. She was active in community events.

She married Robert W. Bryson on July 29, 1940, in Kellogg, Idaho. They initially lived 
in Cataldo, Idaho, and later moved to California before returning to Idaho in the late 
1940s. In 1970, they moved again to California, making their home in Anaheim until 
1990, when they retired to Twin Falls. Her husband died in 1991 and Mary lived in 
Kimberly until entering a care center. She loved her family and was a tireless 
homemaker in her efforts to care for her loved ones.

Mary is survived by her sons, Robert A. Bryson (Margaret) of Salt Lake City, Utah, and 
Patrick G. Bryson (Cate) Kansas City, Mo. Grandchildren surviving are Jonathan, 
Matthias, Kirk, Devin, Nicholas and Dana Bryson; great-grandchildren are Lucy 
Vanessa Joy, Avery, Kevin and Kenneth Bryson, Quentin, Greta and Edith Bryson-
Adams. Nephews surviving include Roy A. Gowey of Cataldo, Idaho. Mary was 
preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Agnes Gowey and Kathryn Lapp; 
and grandchildren, Vanessa Bryson and Nathan Edward Bryson.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at White Mortuary "Chapel by the 
Park" in Twin Falls. A viewing will be held first with a short service to follow. Interment 
will follow at the Paul Cemetery in Paul.
