 LINDBERG, James Stephen July 28, 1939 - June 27, 2009 James Stephen Lindberg, 
a retired educator from the California State Department of Education, died on 
Saturday, June 27, 2009, at his home in Roseville, Calif., at age 69. Jim had 
congestive heart failure and prostate cancer. He spent his final days at home after 
suffering numerous heart attacks. Born in Los Angeles, Jim got his Masters Degree in 
Health and Safety Studies at California State University, Los Angeles. He then taught 
school in Southern California and Hawaii. In 1970, Jim went to work for the California 
Department of Education having various positions with Adult Education. As a 
consultant, he traveled to Adult Schools for Compliance Reviews, making sure that 
program funding was being spent properly. After finding fraud, Jim reported it, which 
led to him suffer two heart attacks and retire early. Jim is survived by his wife Joy 
Lindberg of Roseville, three sons, James, Keith and John, and six grandchildren. 
Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 6, at 11:00 a.m. at Lutheran Church of 
the Ascension, 7607 Garden Gate Dr., Citrus Heights, Calif. Reception to follow. In 
lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Praxis Foundation or Lutheran Church of the 
Ascension Building Fund.
