Robert was a veteran of WWII. When he went into the Army his civil occupation was 
categorized as "Semiskilled chauffeurs and drivers, bus, taxi, truck, and tractor." He 
became an aircraft repair mechanic. 

Robert met "Sadie" (Sarah Love 1922-1988) in Scotland during the war. She came 
over here after the war. Their marriage produced two daughters and three sons who 
all survive him. 

Robert later married Gladys Ellen Smith (1957–2009), who kindly took care of her 
father-in-law until his death.
