Helen Virginia Alexander, 90, of Port Republic, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 
2014, in Harrisonburg.

 She was born in Harrisonburg on May 7, 1923, and was a daughter of the late Carl 
Victor and Alice G. (Gardner) Rhodes.

 Helen was a member of the United Brethren Church.

 On Sept. 23, 1942, she married James William Alexander, who preceded her in death.

 Helen is survived by two daughters, Geneva Shipe and husband, Keith, of Port 
Republic and Judy Rosson and husband, Herbert Sr., of Harrisonburg; two sons, 
Carlton Alexander and companion, Bev Moyers, of Crimora, and Carroll Alexander of 
Harrisonburg. She is also survived by six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren 
and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

 She was preceded in death by four sisters, Joyce Carver, Dorothy Foltz, Wanita 
Snyder and Donna Rhodes.

 The family will receive friends Saturday, May 3, 2014, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Johnson 
Funeral Service in Grottoes.
