Marcella Mary Kopriva was born
August 5, 1916 near Pocahontas. She was
the daughter of John and Mary (Poduska)
Kopriva. She attended Sacred Heart High
School and graduated from Pocahontas
High School. She went on to graduate
from Grand Island Business School in
Grand Island, Neb. She worked at the Pocahontas
County Courthouse.
On March 23, 1937 Marcella married
Glenn Simpson at Pocahontas. The couple
settled, near Pocahontas where they
farmed. Marcella worked as a district clerk
for the Soil Conservation Service for over
30 years. Glenn died in 1982. She retired
in 1986.
Marcella was a member of the Resurrection
of Our Lord Catholic Church, Sts.
Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Sts. Peter
& Pauls Historical Society; and the CD of
A. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother
and great-grandmother, who
enjoyed her family and their activities over
the years. She also enjoyed farm life, gardening,
sewing, reading and playing cards.
Marcella was preceded in death by
her parents; her husband, Glenn; and a
daughter, Mary Suzanne.
