Barbara Litewski, 80, of Zion, died on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at home. She 
was born March 28, 1935 in Kenosha, WI and lived in Zion all of her life. 

She graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School in 1953. On August 8, 1953 
she married Gerald Litewski at North Prairie United Methodist Church and both 
Barbara and Gerald have remained longtime members of the church. She was 
employed as a clerk at Bennett’s Service Station in Winthrop Harbor at 9th and 
Sheridan Road. Barbara’s real love in life was taking care of her children, 
grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years Gerald; children Larry (Sue) Litewski of 
Winthrop Harbor, IL, Michael (Patricia) Litewski of Zion, IL, Daniel (Jennifer) Litewski 
of Winthrop Harbor, IL, and Susan (Ronald) Wendricks of Waukegan, IL; nine 
grandchildren Jacob Litewski, Gabriel Litewski, Sarah Townsend, Audrey Mayfield, 
Tiffany Grahn, Tonya Frost, Robert Litewski, Caryn Block, and Jonathon Litewski; 
eighteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law Mona Bennett and Marlene Kufel 
both of Zion, IL.

She was preceded in death by brothers Alvin “Butch” Bennett and Bob “Buddha” (and 
the late Mae) Bennett; her father and mother Lawrence “Bill” and Ruby Bennett; and 
her step-father Ted Potts.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 9, 2015, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the 
CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. A funeral service will be 
held on Thursday, September 10th, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will 
follow at Oakdale Cemetery, Newport Township, IL. Memorial contributions to Zion Fire 
& Rescue Department, 1303 - 27th Street, Zion, IL 60099 have been suggested.
