 Eleanor "Ellie" Priest died in Vancouver, Wash., after an extended illness. She was 
81. 

 Born in Port Angeles to Harry and Mae (Gould) Bennett, she moved to Sequim at age 
8 and graduated in the Sequim High School class of 1939. 

 After she married Reid Priest in October 1939, the couple lived in logging camps at 
Forks for several years before returning to Sequim, where they built a home on 
Hendrickson Road. 

 In 1956, the Priests moved to Tustin, Calif., where she worked as the high school 
secretary and continued her lifelong love of playing piano and organ in church. 

 After returning to Port Angeles in 1968, Mrs. Priest designed and built an A-frame 
home on Fourth Street and added community service to her church music, with an 
active role in Chapter EP of PEO at Sequim and providing piano accompaniment for 
the vocal group Messengers. 

 Mrs. Priest is survived by sons Harvey Priest of East Bremerton and Rodney Priest of 
Port Orchard; daughters Judy Jones of Vancouver, Wash., and Jill Priest of Port 
Orchard; brother Gus Bennett of Port Angeles; and five grandchildren. 

 Her husband died in 1968. 

 Services: Saturday, Oct. 26, at 1 p.m., memorial in First United Methodist Church, 110 
E. Seventh St., Port Angeles. Private inurnment will be in Mount Angeles Memorial 
Park, U.S. Highway 101 and Monroe Road, Port Angeles. Hamilton-Mylan Funeral 
Home, Vancouver, Wash., is in charge. 

 Memorials: First United Methodist Church, 110 E. Seventh St., Port Angeles, WA 
98362; and Edith Markum Scholarship Fund, Chapter EP of PEO, 2144 Cays Road, 
Sequim, WA 98382.
