March 10, 1910 -- July 14, 2006 

 Talford William "Tom" Kish of Port Angeles died in Sequim of age-related causes. He 
was 96. 

 He was born in Brownsfield, Alberta, to Martin and Opal (Clampett) Kish. 

 When weather on the prairies permitted farm chores to be finished, he attended 
school. 

 At age 14, after the death of his mother, he headed for the United States, usually 
working several jobs at a time. 

 Mr. Kish, who was employed by Washington Pulp and Paper mill -- which is now 
Nippon Paper Industries USA in Port Angeles -- built and operated K&K Grocery Store 
on Lincoln Street for many years. 

 He was a successful welterweight boxer, fighting in arenas at Seattle, Victoria and 
Port Angeles. 

 Mr. Kish piloted his single-engine Tri-Pacer on a solo flight to Denver for a Rotary 
International convention in 1966. 

 He also enjoyed being at water, either by way of his Lake Sutherland cabin or his 
boat, Gin & Tomic. 

 Peninsula Golf Club was a favorite place, and he was proud of a hole-in-one with a 
five iron on a Par 3, 162-yard hole. 

 He also enjoyed watching baseball, especially games of the Seattle Mariners. 

 He was a member of Queen of Angels Roman Catholic Church for more than 60 years. 

 He was also past exalted ruler of the Elks Naval Lodge; 1965-66 president of Port 
Angeles Rotary Club and a member of Rotary Birds, and past president of the Port 
Angeles Yacht Club. 

 He traveled throughout the world and was especially fond of the Hawaiian Islands. 

 Survivors include his wife, Patricia, and son Jack Kish, both of Port Angeles; 
daughter Judy White of Sequim; brother Gerry Kish of Alberta; 11 grandchildren and 
21 great-grandchildren. 

 He was preceded in death by son Gary Kish, daughter Carole Genis, brother Howard 
Kish and sisters Cecelia Anderson and Pansy Mitchell. 

 Services: Thursday, July 20, 11 a.m., funeral Mass in Queen of Angels Catholic 
Church, 209 W. 11th St., Port Angeles. The Rev. Kurt Nagel will celebrate.
