Obituary
Robert 'Jim' Nugent
Former longtime Toutle resident Robert James Nugent, 84, of Longview passed away 
Dec. 4, 2012, at Canterbury Gardens.

He was born June 26, 1928, in Ryderwood, Wash., to Harry and Grace (O'Rieily) 
Nugent and attended R.A. Long High School and Toutle Lake High School.

Jim served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He retired from the 
logging industry in 1983. Jim was a past president of the Castle Rock Eagles and a 
member of the American Legion. He was outgoing and friendly, enjoying hunting, 
fishing, camping at the beach, gardening and playing cards.

Jim married Beverly Umiker in Castle Rock June 29, 1951. She preceded him in death 
in May 2002. Also preceding him were two brothers, Harold Nugent and Chuck 
Nugent.

He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Lil Nugent and Al and 
Cathy Nugent, all of Longview, Ed and Cheryl Nugent of Seattle and Lynn and Janet 
Nugent of Kelso; a sister, Shirley Baizer of Longview; a sister-in-law and her husband, 
Gail and Jerry Todd of Toutle; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, 
nieces and nephews.

A service for close family and friends is planned for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hubbard 
Funeral Home in Castle Rock. A celebration of Jim's life for all family and friends will 
follow at 2 p.m. at the Castle Rock Eagles.
