Harold Jay Nugent, known to friends and family as ?Hal?, passed away Sunday, 
February 1, 2009 at the Willapa Harbor Hospital. Born in Yacolt, Washington in 1924, 
Hal was a long time resident of Raymond, Washington. 

 He graduated from RA Long High School in 1942 and enlisted in the Army Air Corps 
shortly after. Hal received a degree in Technical Engineering and Broadcasting from 
the University of Chigaco. 

 In 1949 Hal married Virginia Closner. She passed away in 1993. Hal later married 
Judith McIlveen in 1994. Judith survives at the family home in Raymond. 

 For many years Hal worked as an engineer for KAPA radio before settling in at 
Weyerhaeuser where he retired after 33 years. 

 Harold belonged to the Model Railroaders Club for several years. He loved music, 
especially jazz and classical, and was also an active member of the Jehovah's 
Witnesses.
