 Cathy Nelson, 62, of Albany died Friday at her home. 

 Born in Albany to Melvin and Joan (Smith) Abraham, Cathy was raised in Halsey and 
graduated from Central Linn High School. She has lived in Albany for the last 35 
years. 

 Cathy married Larry D. Nelson on Dec. 31, 1981, in Albany. She loved to read and 
travel, and gardening was one of her pleasures. Cathy was a devoted wife, mother 
and grandmother. She was a member of the Albany First Evangelical Church, the 
Waverly Elementary PTA when her kids were in school, and was a neighborhood 
watch captain. 

 Survivors include her husband, Larry of Albany; daughters Missi Barrett and Jami 
McConnell of Brownsville, and Lydia Nelson of Salem; son Lucas Nelson of Buffalo, 
N.Y.; brother Dale Abraham of Turner; sister Janet Abraham of Albany; and six 
grandchildren. 

 She was preceded in death by her parents.
