Linda Chaffee Perman passed away peacefully on Friday, December 9, 2011, at age 
67 after a 3 month battle with cancer. Linda was born on July 14, 1944 in Sutton, 
Vermont to parents Charles E. Chaffee and Jannett Bennett Chaffee. Linda's mother 
died while she was very young, and she was raised by her sisters Val and Jeannette. 
When she was 18 years old, she struck out on her own, traveling and working in 
several cities in the East and the South. In 1965, she came to Fort Collins and began 
working at Star Newspapers. It was here that she met her future husband, Gary 
Perman, and Linda and Gary were married on October 15, 1968. Linda was a very 
talented and creative person. She was a self-taught artist who worked in several 
mediums, and she exhibited her works in several area art shows and galleries. Her 
most recent efforts were Psyanka, a Ukrainian art form of placing colored designs on 
eggs through a multi-stage dyeing process. Linda created well over 100 of these 
bright, colorful eggs, most of which were her original designs. In addition, she loved to 
knit and she made a variety of items such as gloves, scarves, and afghans which she 
gave to friends and family. Linda was preceded in death by three brothers and one 
sister - Carlos E. Chaffee, East Ryegate, VT; Neal W. Chaffee, Enfield, CT; Paul L. 
Chaffee, Sutton, VT; and Elaine "Val" Sullivan, Stafford Springs, CT. Linda is survived 
by her loving husband of 43 years, Gary J. Perman of Fort Collins; a sister, Jeannette 
Chaffee Smith of Gettysburg, PA; and several nieces and nephews, including Andrew 
Chapo of Kensington, CT. A memorial service celebrating Linda's life will be held at 
the Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive Street, Fort Collins, CO, 2 p.m., Friday, 
December 16. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Linda 
C. Perman Memorial Fund, Pathways Hospice, 305 Carpenter Road, Fort Collins, CO 
80526. The family is very grateful to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Pathways 
Hospice for the tender, loving care they gave Linda during the last days of her life. 
Farewell, my love, you touched many lives during your lifetime, and we are all the 
better for having known and loved you.
