EAST LONGMEADOW - Edwin A. Nichols, 89, of 176 Mountainview Rd., East 
Longmeadow, passed away Nov. 2 at home with his wife Annette (Bilodeau) Nichols at 
his bedside. Besides his wife Annette, whom he has been married to for 68 years, he 
leaves behind three sons, Edwin Nichols III and wife Gail of Branford, CT, Brian 
Nichols and wife Julie of East Longmeadow, and Bruce Nichols and wife Cecile of 
Hudson, NH. He also leaves eleven grandchildren and 14 great-grand-children who 
loved him very much. Ed was a retired engineer for the former American Bosch 
Corporation where he worked for thirty-five years. Ed and Annette spent a total of 3 
1/2 years living in Brescia, Italy and Breda, Holland, where Ed acted as Chief Liaison 
Engineer for American Bosch / AMBAC Corporation. He was a past president of the 
Society of Automotive Engineers, a member and former "King" of the East 
Longmeadow Friendship Club, a past treasurer of the East Longmeadow Library 
Association, and a 52 year member of St. Michael's Church in East Longmeadow. 
During his lifetime, he was an accomplished artist, working in pastels, oil paint, 
watercolor, and woodcarving. He will be missed by all those who loved him. Funeral 
services were held Nov. 5 at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home of East Longmeadow, 
followed by a Mass in St. Michael's Church and burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 
Springfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Assoc. and 
Hospice of Western New England, PO Box 9058, Springfield, MA 01102-9058 or St. 
Michael's Parish, 110 Maple St., East Longmeadow, MA 01028.
