Mr. David F. Runyard, age 71, of rural Wautoma, died suddenly Friday evening, June
29, 2007 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, following a day of great fishing with his son and
grandson on Lake DuBay near Wausau. He was born April 14, 1936 in Antioch, IL, the
son of Thomas and Harriet Chase Runyard. David married Nancy M. Bailitz on
September 12, 1959 in Antioch, IL. Nancy survives. David was raised in Antioch, and
was a 1954 Graduate of Antioch High School. Following his graduation from Antioch
High School, David entered the U. S. Navy and served his Country in the South
Pacific, from 1954 to 1958, during the Korean Conflict. He attained the rank of Petty
Officer First Class. Upon his return from service, he became employed as a Rural
Letter Carrier by the United States Post Office in Antioch. David was employed at the
Antioch Post Office for 32 years until his retirement in 1991. He and his wife, Nancy
moved to their home in the Town of Marion in 1994. David loved his family. He was an
avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to garden. He was a member of the Wautoma
American Legion Post. Survivors include his wife of almost 48 years, Nancy; three
sons, Michael (Vicki) Runyard of Antioch, Robert (Susan) Runyard of Twin Lakes, WI
and James (Rita) Runyard of Lindenhurst, IL; five grandchildren, Jonathan, Kelsey,
Collin, Matthew and Thomas; two brothers, John (Margaret) Runyard and Daniel
(Linda) Runyard, both of Antioch; and two sisters, Katherine (Richard) Rogers and
Mary Jo (Michael) Zeien, both of Antioch. David is also survived by many nieces and
nephews, other relatives, and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents;
and a sister, Margaret Ann McKinney. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be
Celebrated by Father Ronald Anglim Friday, July 20, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Peter's
Catholic Church in Antioch, IL. Full Military Honors will be provided by the Antioch
American Legion Post following the Mass. A Memorial has been established. The
Ruminski Funeral Home of Redgranite is assisting the family with arrangements.
