Gordon Lee Brown, 89, of Hendersonville passed away Saturday, June 16, 2007, at 
Laurelwoods Assisted Living in Columbus.

He was a graduate of the Emanuel Missionary College of Michigan and received a 
masters degree in education at Western Carolina University. He was a teacher, band 
director and principal at Fletcher Academy until retiring in the 1980s. He was a 
member of the Fletcher Seventh Day Adventist Church.





He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Brown.

He is survived by two sons, Franklin E. Brown and wife, Phyllis, of Hendersonville, 
and Scott L. Brown and wife, Marie, of Maryland; a daughter, Marian B. Wilkes and 
husband, John, of Oklahoma; a brother, Kenneth Brown of California; a sister, Maxine 
Moore of California; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces 
and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel at Forest Lawn Mortuary. 
The burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 
from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel.

Memorials can be made to Fletcher Academy.

Forest Lawn Mortuary is assisting the family with the arrangements.
