Formerly of Hickory Corners and Comstock Mrs. Brown died Saturday, September 18, 
2004 at the Laurels of Galesburg. She was born December 21, 1922 in Battle Creek, 
the daughter of Hal and Edna (Bechtol) Sinclair. She had also lived in Hickory Corners 
and Comstock, and was a longtime resident of Richland. On April 15, 1941, Julia 
married Hale S. Brown. She worked for many years in the packing department of the 
Peter Eckrich Co., retiring in 1983, and she had also worked at Gibson Guitar, 
Sutherland Paper, and Panelite, and briefly at the Kellogg Biological Station. Surviving 
are daughters, Julia Ann (Ken) Kammeraad of Bushnell, FL and Mary E. (Terry Morgan) 
Ludwig of Richland; a son, Hale Sam (Charlotte) Brown of Richland; 12 grandchildren 
and 3 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Harry Sinclair of Homosassa, 
FL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, 
Hale S. Brown in 1972; a son, Hal Brown in 1999; a daughter, Harriet Brown in 1943; 
and a sister, Gertrude Sinclair in 1998; Julia enjoyed traveling, bowling, crocheting, 
reading and working crossword puzzles. She most enjoyed spending time with her 
family. Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at the 
FARLEY-ESTES & DOWDLE RICHLAND CHAPEL 

 9170 East D. Avenue (M-89) 

 with Pastor Jeff Worden officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 
prior to the service, from 12 - 1 p.m. Interment will be at Prairie Home Cemetery, 
Richland. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or to
