BROWN, James Irving "Jim" March 11, 1934 - August 14, 2015 (Age 81) Jim went to
be with his Lord and Savior on August 14, 2015, while surrounded by his loving family
after losing his battle with Vascular Dementia. Jim was known for his quiet, happy
disposition, great sense of humor, big smile, and cheerful whistle. Jim loved the Lord
more than anything. Anyone who met him could see Jesus shining through him. Jim's
greatest joy this side of Heaven was spending time with his family, being a devoted
and loving husband, father and Papa. Jim loved puttering around the house and
garden, playing card games, camping, visiting the Oregon Coast, backroad excursions,
and gospel music. Jim was a talented artist who blessed us with many beautiful
paintings. He will be very missed by his family and friends, but our peace and comfort
comes in knowing that he is in Heaven praising and worshipping Jesus and will never
again experience pain. Jim was born to Lester and Mable Brown in Desmet, SD on
March 11, 1934. His family later settled in Spokane. He graduated from John R.
Rogers High School in 1952 and attended both Anderson and Whitworth Universities.
Jim married his sweetheart, Gayle M. Logan, in 1958. They were happily married for
over 57 years. Jim served in the Navy and was stationed in New York City shortly after
their wedding. After moving back to Spokane, Jim worked for the Crescent Department
Store as an artist and display manager and designed many beautiful window displays.
Jim worked as a commercial artist and supervisor in the printing industry for many
years until he retired in 1999. Jim was active in church as a youth and an adult. Jim
was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Calvin and Merle Brown; and sister,
Ruth Forsyth Didier. He is survived by his wife Gayle (Logan) Brown; children and
spouses, Deborah and Joel Peabody of Northglenn, CO, Michael and Ellen Brown of
Maple Valley, WA, Brenda and Ron Buckingham of Spokane, WA and Jason and
Jenifer Brown of Spokane, WA; brothers, Keith and Jerry Brown; ten grandchildren,
five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be
held on Saturday, August 22 at 1:00 pm at Fellowship Church of God, 2102 E. Everett.
Donations can be made in Jim's name to Shim Orphanage in Kenya c/o Fellowship
Church or Hospice of Spokane.
