Didier, Ruth Eleanor (Brown) Forsyth 79 June 29, 1931 May 04, 2011 Ruth went home 
to be with Jesus on a beautiful spring day. We are sure her homecoming was more 
dazzling than even the most beautiful day of her life with us. She passed away at age 
79 due to vascular dementia. Born June 29, 1931, to Lester Irving and Mabel Alta 
(Coleman) Brown in Mathews, S.D., Ruth's family settled in Spokane in the late '40s. 
She graduated from John R. Rogers High School in 1949 and was active in the 
Hillyard Church of God congregation as a youth and adult. Ruth married Eldon E. 
Forsyth in 1956. They raised three children and operated a family business in Portland 
until his death in 1977. She later worked for the telephone company, retiring from US 
West in 1992. As a part of the 1966 church plant of Tigard Church of God, she 
actively served the church, teaching Sunday school and singing alto in the choir. 
Ruth married Joseph Didier in 1978; he passed away in 1979. Ruth enjoyed knitting, 
embroidery, crochet and cross-stitch, adorning her home and the homes of her 
children. Since 2006 Ruth lived at Courtyard Senior Living and Encore Senior Village. 
Never losing her sense of humor, Ruth was always ready with a smile. She endeared 
herself deeply to all who cared for her. We are especially grateful for the love given 
her in her last months. She will be greatly missed by those touched by her life. Ruth 
was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eldon; husband, Joe; and brothers, 
Calvin E. Brown and Merle L. Brown. She is survived by her children, Karen Helt 
(Chris) of Fort Collins, Colo., Teresa Freeman (Todd) of Portland and Tim Forsyth 
(Julie) of Portland; brothers, Jim Brown, Keith Brown and Jerry Brown; grandchildren, 
Sara, Matt, Mike, Kayla, Kiersten, Doug, Erin and Tim; and many nieces and nephews. 
A funeral service and reception will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at 
Skyline Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4101 N.W. Skyline Blvd., Portland. We look 
forward to celebrating her life and sharing memories of Ruth with her friends and 
family.
