Excerpt from record book (dating from 1905) of the Catharine Greene Chapter of the 
National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), which is on 
file at the Greene County Historical Society, Xenia, Greene County, Ohio:

Mrs. Clarissa Nicholas Adair died at her home Aug. 25, 1936.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Erastus Nicholas.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a charter member of Catharine 
Greene Chapter D.A.R.

She was married to Robert N. Adair in 1883.
Burial at Xenia, Woodland Cemetery.

Obituary in Xenia Daily Gazette:
DEATH CLAIMS MRS. R. D. ADAIR, WELL-KNOWN XENIA WOMAN;
Funeral Arranged for Friday

Mrs. Clarissa Adair, wife of R. D. Adair and prominent Xenia woman, died at her home, 
424 N. Galloway St., late Wednesday afternoon after an extended illness. She had 
been in failing health four years, her condition becoming serious a week ago.

Mrs. Adair, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eratus Nichols, pioneer Xenians, 
was born in this city and had spent her entire life here. She was an active member of 
the Presbyterian Church and was a past Regent of Catharine Greene Chapter, 
Daughters of the American Revoution of which she was a charter member.

Her marriage to Mr. Adair, prominent retired Xenia furniture merchant and president of 
the Citizens' National Bank and Home Federal Savings and Loan Association, took 
place in 1883, Mr. and Mrs. celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary here in 1933.

Besides her husband Mrs. Adair, who was the last member of her immediate family, is 
survived by three sons, Charles and James, members of the R. D. Adair Furniture Co., 
Xenia, and Robert, of Maysville, Ky., president of the January and Ward cotton mill 
there. She leaves ten grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Adair home Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock 
with burial in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call at the home Thursday evening 
from 7 to 9 o'clock.
