Roland Glenn Stern March 5, 1925 - July 6, 2007 
STERN, ROLAND GLENN ??" Passed peacefully at his home Bucks Canyon on 
Friday, July 6th, 2007. Roland was born on March 5, 1925 in Sykeston, North Dakota 
the fourth of eight children of Sigrid and Michael Stern. The family moved to San 
Francisco during The Depression. Roland graduated from Lincoln High School and 
went on to serve in the US Navy during WWII. He played football at the University of 
California Berkeley and received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees. Glenn went on 
to teach at the Sequoia Union High School District for 27 years. After retiring and 
moving full time to Cazadero, he continued to substitute teach in Sonoma County for 
many years. He enjoyed gardening, painting, western movies and was an avid hunter. 
He is survived by his sister Kathryn Downey of Watsonville, brothers Jim Stern and his 
wife Edel of Pine River, MN and Jerry Stern and his wife Alice of Milbrae, many nieces 
and nephews and his children Schon Canelis of Ennis, MT, Eric Stern and his wife 
Beth of Los Altos, Bret Stern of Sebastopol, Troy Papameletiou and her husband Theo 
of Las Vegas, NV and Adam Stern of San Francisco, 9 grandchildren, 4 great 
grandchildren and longtime companion Joan Stern. Funeral Services will be held on 
Friday, July 13, 2007 at 1:00PM at the DANIELS CHAPEL OF THE ROSES, 1225 
Sonoma Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA.
