According to The Shilling Family pages on familytreemaker.genealogy.com, this William 
Kay is son of William Kay and Laura Kay. Says the father William Kay was b 1838 in 
Mississippi! Says Laura Kay was born 1842 in South Carolina, and no other info on 
her; cites the 1900 census; but perhaps she is the second wife and not the mother of 
William. site says her name was Magarite, and when she and Willie died, the Shilling 
sisters took the children. Blanche and Julius lived with Sarah Emma Shilling, and John 
Goodman Goslin. Johnnie lived with Alice Shilling and Gene, Sterling Eugene Goslin. 
Ruth lived with Anne Shilling and Andrew Jesse Newman. Then says Buried Sand 
Branch Cemetery (presumably Maggie).  Maggie b Nov 1889 in Gonzales, Tex., d 1924

Nolan Co., Tex., butcher for Boyd Meat Co., in Cisco, Eastland Co., Tex., wife Dora E. 
is in Cisco, Eastland Co., Tex he is tall, slender, blue eyes, brown hair
1930 in Coleman, Coleman Co., Tex., still says parents b Louisiana, butcher, Dora E., 
dtr Vera K. age 25 b Tex. son in law is Thomas Stewart 25 Tex., no wife for him
he is gager for oil co.

has William Jackson Key, b 8 Jan 1875 Denton, Tex., son of Jim E. Key (b Arkansas) 
and Amanda Key (b Caldwell, Tex.), informant Mrs E R Bibby, d 25 Jun 1928 Colorado 
City, Mitchell Co., Tex., butcher, died of stroke, buried Colorado City, Tex. Yet Virginia 
Joiner identified Marion as a child of the William who is the son of William ... could 
they be hiding identity of father because of what happened?
and Virginia descends from his sister.
In 1880 in Comanche Co., Tex., there is a James Key, farmer, 38, b Ga, parents b 
S.C., wife "A" 38, b La, parents b SC, chi Charles 15 b La, Joseph 13 b Ark, Gussie 
11, b La, Sarah, 8, b Tex. Jackson 5, b Tex., Lydia 2, Tex. So if this is William 
Jackson Key, he is NOT our William Key, because in 1880 OUR William Key is with his 
grandfather.
In 1880, in Panola Co., there also is a Jackson Key, age 4, son of a William Key, 34 
farmer b La, parents b NC, and Kate, b Texas, f b Tenn, m b Va. Not him. This Kate 
apparently is surnamed Aleck, as there is a brother Carter Aleck and a son Aleck Key.
