FRED T. RODIA, 81, of Milford, died Jan. 23. He was the husband of Mary Beth 
Tompkins Rodia.

The son of the late Nello and Ermilinda Cologino Rodia, he was born in 1922 in 
Bridgeport. 

Mr. Rodia was a retired realtor with Arnold Peck Property World. He was a former 
employee of Beechmont Dairy. 

A softball umpire, he was elected to the National Softball Hall of Fame. He had 
umpired for the Raybestos Brakettes. 

He was a member of Connecticut Umpire Association and Amateur Softball Association 
of America. He also was a member of IABO No. 9 for basketball. 

Mr. Rodia is survived by a son, Fred of Cutchogue, N.Y.; daughters Sherry of West 
Palm Beach, Fla., and Amy Elizabeth of Milford; a brother, Ralph; sisters, Ange 
Zakhar, Victoria Kolcun, Josephine McCashion and Mildred Feller. 

He was predeceased by brothers Daniel and Anthony, and sisters, Phyllis Renzulli and 
Jane Seeley. 

Arrangements were made by Smith Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford. Interment 
was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
