ROLLOLUCIA P. "Lucy" (nee Clementone), 88, on October 20, 2015, of the
Residence at Glenn Riddle in Media, and formerly of Drexel Hill and
Yeadon. Beloved wife of the late Anthony (Tony) J. Rollo, Sr. Loving
mother of Marian M. (David) DiGirolamo of Newtown Square, Anthony J.
(Julie) Rollo, Jr of Baton Rouge, LA and Peter R. (Linda) Rollo of
Media. Doting grandmother of David, Dennis and Lauren DiGirolamo, and
Emmanuelle and Isabella Rollo. Lucy was born in Philadelphia on
December 13, 1926 to recent Italian immigrants of limited means,
Gabriel and Petronilla Clementone. An only child who had no economic
prospect for attending college, by devoting herself to her studies,
Lucy graduated from John Bartram High School in 1943 as the top-ranked
student in her class. As a result she won a full scholarship to the
University of Pennsylvania, graduating four years later with a degree
in Chemistry. After working as a chemist for the Navy, Lucy married the
love of her life, Tony, after he returned from his service with the Air
Force in World War II. Lucy and Tony celebrated more than 50 years of
marriage until Tony's passing in 2001 at age 78. Throughout her life,
Lucy devoted herself to Tony and their family, and helped raise their
three children and five grandchildren. In addition to regularly
participating as a volunteer in her children's and grandchildren's
school and their activities, Lucy worked for many years with the
Delaware County Intermediate Unit teaching children with learning
disabilities, and giving her time to helping others in need through
Meals on Wheels and similar groups. For Lucy, life was all about
assisting others, especially children and senior citizens who had the
most urgent need for extra care and love. All who met Lucy enjoyed and
were inspired by Lucy's work ethic, intelligence, sense of humor,
humility, and beautiful giving soul. She was truly a great and
remarkable Lady in every respect. Lucy led her entire life along God's
path, and today is at peace in the warm embrace of the Lord, and her
husband Tony. Relatives and friends are invited to Lucy's Life
Celebration Saturday, October 24, 2015, 9-11 A.M. at SPENCER T. VIDEON
OF DREXEL HILL, Garrett Rd & Shadeland Ave. followed by her funeral
service at 11 A.M. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lucy's Memory may be made to St Andrew
the Apostle Church, 3500 School Lane, Drexel Hill, PA 19026. To share
