BARONY OF SAINT AMAND (IV) 1381

AMAURI DE ST. AMAND, son and heir, aged 40 at his father's death, having done 
homage and fealty, had orders for livery 24 September 1381. A Knight by September 
1363. Summoned to Parliament, 9 August 1382 to 2 December 1401. In 1385 he was 
bidden to occupy some castle of his nearest the coast, to defend Devon against the 
French. Commissioner of array, Beds, 1386 and 1392. J.P. Oxon, 1386, Wilts, 1391. 
P.C. to Richard II and Henry IV. K.B. at the latter's Coronation, 1399.

He married, 1stly, in or before February 1368/9, Ida (----), who was living in 1387; and, 
2ndly, about 1390 (l), Eleanor, widow of Sir Thomas WODELOK of Owslebury, Hants, 
and daughter and heir of Richard LAVYNTON. He died s.p.m.s., 13 June 1402 (o). His 
widow had order for dower, March 1402/3, and died 17 May 1426 (p). On his death 
the Barony, according to modern doctrine, fell into abeyance between his 2 coheirs.

(l) Her daughter Ida proved her age 1406.

(o) Will, dated 23 Apr 1400, pr. 1 July 1402, mentions his sons Amauri and John, and 
directs burial in the church of the Friars Preachers, Oxford, near his late wife Ida.

(p) Her will directs burial near Sir Amauri, and mentions the church of Owslebury, 
where her husband Wodeloke, and her sons and daughters were buried.
