ROBERT DE THWENG, 1st son and heir (d), performed service in Wales for the 
Bishop of Durham in 1282. He married, before December 1265, Alice (then aged 8), 
youngest daughter and coheir of Roger DE MERLAY, of Morpeth, Northumberland. 
She died shortly before 7 February 1267/8, and Robert must have married again, as 
his daughter Lucy was born 24 March 1278/9 (h). He died s.p.m. and v.p. before 1284

(d) L'Anson says that Robert, son of Marmaduke, was b. and baptized at Kilton in 
1255.

(h) L'Anson says that Robert had a mistress "Matilda", daughter of Sir Robert 
Hansard, by whom he had 2 sons, Marmaduke and Robert, priest. J.W. Ord states that 
"Matilda" was Robert's only wife and mother of Lucy. She may have been Robert's 
2nd wife and mother of Lucy.

(i) When his brother had succeeded him. His heir was his daughter Lucy, who 
obtained the lands which the Thwengs had inherited from Lucy de Brus.
