On January 2,1637[/8] "Henery Way" was granted an allotment at Mannings Moone, 
but the property in some way did not suit, so in lieu of it he was granted five acres 
evidently at Tomson's Island

His grant at the Neck was 2 acres and two quarters and twelve rods, and of cow 
pasture, the same
He had two rods of fencing at the great lots above Mr. Glover's

Henry Way was probably related in some degree to Mr. George Way, who had many 
business interests in New England and who made a brief visit to Dorchester [TAG 
61:253].

Most of the listing I have on the early Waye/Way's is weak, and comes from other 
researchers,with some reference books. Much, from an early publication by Charles 
Granville Way. It is full of documentation, and errors !! I have listed some of my notes 
and listings on the early Family. I am aware it has errors, but maybe it will help point 
someone in a direction.

1. HENRY WAYE (WILLIAM HENRY2, HENRY ALEXANDER1) was born Abt. 1578 in 
Bridport, Parish of Allinfton, Dorset County, England, and died March 24, 1665/66 in 
SuffolkCounty, Massachusetts. He married (1) JOANNA SMITH Abt. 1604. She was 
born Abt. 1587 in England, and died Bef. 1615 in England. He married (2) ELIZABETH 
BACHELOR January 22, 1614/15 in Dorset County, England. She was born Abt. 1581 
in Dorset County, England, and died June 23, 1665 in Suffolk County, Massachusetts.

Granville Way's "Gleanings" and the assistance of many other researchers.

Mr. Henry Way (Waye) is listed on the manifest as a passenger on board the ship;
"The Mary and John", arriving in the Massachusetts Bay in 1630.

The Mary & John left England in March of 1630 and arrived seventy days later, on May 
30, 1630, at the mouth of what is now Boston harbor. The ship's captain refused to 
sail up the Charles river as planned, because he feared running the ship aground in 
waters that he had no charts for. He instead left the passengers in a desolate locale, 
miles from their intended destination. The settlers were forced to transport 150,000 
pounds of livestock, provisions and equipment 20 miles overland to their final 
destination.

On 20 March 1630 the ship Mary & John sailed from Plymouth, England, with 140 
passengers. The families were all recruited by the Rev. John White of Dorchester, 
Dorset. Nearly all of these families came from the West Country of England, i.e. 
counties of Somerset, Dorset and Devon. The ship landed in New England, on 30 May 
1630, two weeks before the Winthrop Fleet arrived. These people founded one of the 
first towns in Massachusetts, Dorchester, 1630.        

Henry Waye carried on a fishing business. His boat saved three shipwrecked men off 
the coast 26 July 1631. Two other boats of his were lost, 5 men killed by Indians and 
2 drowned in 1632.
