MAULE Lydia
Birth: 1799 Pa.
Death: 1866 Cincinnati, Ohio
Notes
NOTE: I have removed marriage to Oliver Kellogg (and he is a standalone entry in the
database). I have moved Abigail Kellogg to her own tree within this database so if
necessary she can be restored. But at the moment, I think she is the granddtr of Henry
and Abigail Mall, of a NJ family that COULD be the Roger Maul family.
1981 book (see for details)
In Marriage Bonds of Henrico Co., Va, 1782-1853, there is an entry for Peter
Thompson and Lyddia Maule (so spelled), Joseph Maule as surety for Lyddia's age and
residence 20 May 1830
So who is the Lydia Maule who md Oliver Kellogg?
In 1850, in Richmond, Va., there is a Peter Thompson, age 35 or 55, b Va., a
chandler, and Lydia, 50, b Pa., with them is Daniel Maul, laborer, 18 (1831), b
Virginia. This would be Daniel Thompson Maule, her nephew.
So much for Oliver Kellogg! No ... I'm wondering if she married him first?
In 1860 in Richmond, Peter Thompson age 59, b Va., works in soap factory, and Lidia
(idx'd as Ledia), age 59, b Md.
1870 do not find them

From A book of Strattons: being a collection of Stratton records from England and
Scotland etc etc. P 2:437 (written before my info found its way onto the web). Joel
Stratton was born on a farm three and one-half miles northwest of Salem, O. Jan 5
1824. He married Abby Kellogg in 1854. She was the daughter of Oliver and Lydia
(Maule) Kellogg. His entire life of more than 82 years was spent in the vicinity of
Salem, and the last 43 years on his farm on Franklin Road, where he passed
peacefully away Sept 16, 1906, "as a shock of wheat fully ripe and ready for the
harvet." He was a man if unimpeachable character and respected by all who knew
him. He was a faithful and consistent member of the Friends' Church, having birthright
membership. "Joel Stratton was always found on the right side of every great moral
question, and never hesitated to let his opinions be known. He was of a cheerful,
genial disposition and had many personal friends." So ... there MUST be a record of
Abby Kellogg and Oliver in Friends' records?
See notes under Abigail
So her presumed father Henry Mall could be of the NJ family started by Roger Maul
(mentioned in margin notes in William Maule's copy of the 1868 book). There is an
extensive tree on owt of Roger's descendants.
