1981 book:
Benjamin was a farmer. During the Civil War, he served with the 57th Ohio Infantry 
and the 84th Indiana Infantry. Military records describe him as five feet, seven and 
one-halfinches in height, 133 pounds, with dark complexion, black eyes, and black 
hair. Benjamin was a member of the Restitution Church (Church of God). In 1882, 
Benjamin left Richmond, Ind., and moved to Cedar Twp., Sac Co., Iowa. In 1904, he 
moved to Sac City, Iowa.
