Mary was educated at Westtown Friends School, which she entered in Oct. 1854, and 
at Thomas Conard's School in West Grove, Pa.  She was a teacher at a small school 
near Maulton, Chester Co., Pa., and at Westtown Friends School.
 Barclay was an accountant. He and Mary were members of the Religious Society of 
Friends.
	Mary was a member of the managing committee of Friends Select School, 
the Shelter, and Aimwell.  She was a member of the Westtown Committee and manager 
of the West Philadelphia Hospital for Women.
