per EAQG, his parents arrived from Lisburn MM, Ireland,  Dec 4 1802, on a certificate 
granted 1801, 12 march, and referred to Richmond. The children who were of age 
were cleared for marriage. Children: Phebe, Sarah, Abigail, John, Henry, Rebecca, 
Hannah, William. Wow, this explains the names of his and Mary's children. Lisburn is 
in Countly Antrim
1850 census living in WILMINGTON!!!!! puts bdate c 1795, which fits with info on 
parents. all 6 children living at home. Mary born in DELAWARE! Occupation appears 
to be Gent. A Betsy Rice, age 17 is listed under John J, who is age 18 and at end of 
list of children though he is the oldest.
10 Nov 1853 Baltimore Sun: "On the 8th inst at 9 1/2 p.m. Henry Clarke, Sen., in the 
62d year of his age, formerly of Richmond, Va., but for the last two years a resident of 
this city. [Philadelphia, Richmond, Va., and WIlmington (Del.) papers please copy.] His 
friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend his funeral on this (Fifth-
day) afternoon, at three o'clock, from his late residence, No. 6 Barnet street."
In US Quaker Mtg Records on ancestry, rec'd into membership 4mo10 1851 is Henry 
Clarke, wife Mary Maule, children John J, Henry Jr, William E, Joseph W., no mention 
of daughters (this is page 16 of the Baltmore MMD Western District book for 1852 - 
1868) pages out of order, need to jump 3 to get to page 17. Recd from Cherry St MM 
Phila, Henry died 11mo 8 1853 bur Country Ground, John J resigned 11th mo 5 1854, 
Henry resigned 1mo 9 1868, William and Joseph resigned 1 mo 9 1868
Found dtrs on page 20-21, with mother. No notes for mother, but dtrs resigned 5th mo 
1865
When the family moved, Henry resigned as clerk of Baltimore Preparative Meeting.
